I already wrote a small post about my participation in Help Portrait, but nothing really in depth about the day itself. I’m kind of hesitant about doing so since the entire movement was about “giving pictures, not just taking them.” This meant not benefiting off of the publicity of volunteering for the project, but somehow still creating enough interest to gather sponsors and volunteers. After the event, so many wonderful people compiled photos and videos of their efforts and the event was showcased on local and even national media (CNN and other major channels). So of course, I don’t know if I feel obligated to write anything other than it was a wonderful day for the families we photographed, and for the camaraderie and friendships gained during the whole process.
I’m excited for next year’s event and hope to continue this project for years to come. To get up to date information about this day of giving photographs, visit http://Help-Portrait.com/
