Last January I took an impromptu trip to San Diego to visit my brother and his family because I had an expiring airline credit. I booked my ticket and a week later I was on my way to sunny California and away from the crazy winter weather of Albany NY. Although my intentions were set on spending time with family, I also wanted to test out my new tripod and ND filter that I bought to help improve my long exposure photos. This was actually my first real attempt with Long Exposure photography so I’m happy with the results:
I accidentally caught this awesome effect when I had to make a run for it from a rogue wave at the end of a longer exposure. I love the fog effect it makes, almost ghost like.
I had big plans for shots under the pier but the tide was too far in and I couldn’t stabilize myself on the rocks for long enough for a sharp shot.
Only quick exposures were possible under the pier. This is one of my favorites.
Night fell quickly because the sun was obscured from the clouds, which made for an interesting last shot of the evening.
